Biography

Brenda Hawks is the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Field Operations Oversight/Chief of Nuclear Safety for the Office of Environmental Management Safety, Security, and Quality Assurance/Chief of Nuclear Safety. Ms. Hawks joined DOE in 1995 and has over 38 years of professional experience in nuclear operations, safety analysis, quality assurance, criticality safety, software quality assurance, and performance assessments. She has served as the Oak Ridge Environmental Management Senior Technical Advisor, Engineering Division director and the Quality Division director. Ms. Hawks holds two Bachelor of Science degrees, in chemical engineering and polymer chemistry. She holds a Master of Science degree in polymer chemistry, with a minor in chemical engineering.
