Peggy A. O'Day is a Professor and Founding Faculty at the University of California, Merced. She received her B.S. from UC Davis, M.S. from Cornell University, and Ph.D. from Stanford University. She has over 25 years of research experience in aqueous, environmental, and mineral surface geochemistry studying the reactivity and mobility of inorganic contaminants. She specializes in X-ray absorption spectroscopy methods to determine element speciation and molecular-scale reaction mechanisms. She has over 90 peer-reviewed publications and served as principal investigator for many interdisciplinary research projects involving collaborators from academic institutions, national laboratories, state and federal agencies, and private consulting.
