Biography

Michael N. Patterson manages projects and programs related to the treatment and management of used fuel inventories at the Materials and Fuel Complex (MFC), most notably the sodium bonded inventory from the EBR-II reactor. Currently, Mr. Patterson has been leading the research effort to reduce contaminant levels in uranium recovered from irradiated EBR-II fuels as a consideration for High Assay Low Enriched Uranium (HALEU) feedstocks. Mr. Patterson has been involved in the application of molten salt systems and pyrochemical techniques in the treatment and management of sodium bonded fuel for over ten years. Mike is a certified PMP and holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
