Biography

Ángeles Muñoz Carranza is a Lecturer at the University of North Texas and a doctoral candidate in Literacy, Language, and Culture at Texas Woman’s University. Drawing on extensive experience in bilingual education, she has worked across bilingual and dual-language program settings as a teacher, instructional leader, and International Baccalaureate Coordinator. Her research focuses on critical biliteracy practices and the development of equitable, asset-based assessment frameworks for multilingual learners. Grounded in professional practice, her work challenges deficit-oriented assessment models and highlights the importance of leveraging students’ full linguistic repertoires to promote academic, linguistic and academic opportunities.
