Legacy Devers Eye Institute
Steven L. Mansberger, M.D., M.P.H. is the Chenoweth Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at Legacy Devers Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon. He is also Legacy Health Clinical Vice-President, Senior Scientist, and Director of Glaucoma Services. He holds an appointment at Oregon Health Science University (OHSU) as Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and Public Health and Preventive Medicine. Dr. Mansberger completed his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, an ophthalmology residency at Shiley Eye Center at the University of California, San Diego, and a glaucoma fellowship at Devers Eye Institute. He also earned a Masters in Public Health degree (MPH-Biostatistics/Epidemiology) from OHSU.
Dr. Mansberger’s clinical interests include glaucoma detection and treatment, and cataract surgery. He is an board examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology and past president of the Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology. He has won numerous awards including “Best Doctors in Portland, OR”, “Best Doctors in America” (since 2007), Heed Fellowship, The Robert Watske Ophthalmology Instructor of the Year, American Glaucoma Society Clinician-Scientist award, Senior Achievement award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, among others.
Dr. Mansberger has been continuously funded by the National Eye Institute since 2000 with over 36 other research grants including foundations and industry. He is on the Editorial Boards of Journal of Glaucoma and American Journal of Ophthalmology, and is the Section Editor for epidemiology/glaucoma at American Journal of Ophthalmology. He is an invited reviewer for Archives of Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology, Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Survey of Ophthalmology, as well as multiple other journals. He has authored over 260 journal articles, book chapters, and abstracts.
