Biography

Sia Taghipoor, Ph.D P.Eng, has been Ground Control Supervisor at KGHM’s Morrison Mine in Sudbury, ON since 2014. He has over 18 years of experience in underground mining and tunneling. His experience and interests include advanced numerical modeling, hydraulic fracturing, stress measurement, rock characterization, constitutive model calibration and instrumentation and monitoring. He holds a MSc. in Mining Rock Mechanics from Tehran Polytechnics in Iran and a PhD degree from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB. His PhD research was in the area of numerical modeling of hydraulic fracturing.
