Biography

Dr. Stephen LaMont is a Scientist in the Nuclear and Radiochemistry Group, where he currently leads nuclear forensics and treaty monitoring projects. His work has focused on the radiochemistry and mass spectrometry of actinides with applications to nuclear forensics, internal dosimetry, proliferation detection, and environmental safeguards, including the discovery and interpretation of materials signatures to better assess the production history and provenance of forensic samples. Stephen also serves as the US Co-Chair for the Nuclear Forensics International Technical Working Group’s Libraries and Assessment Task Group, and in 2023 was appointed a National Lab Professor with the University of New Mexico.
