Biography

Jim Harken is a Senior Technology Manager working in the Remote Engineering, Design and Robotics Team at the Workington Laboratory of the United Kingdom National Nuclear Laboratory, and is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. Jim has over 37 years of experience in the nuclear industry, mostly spent in the Research and Development arena, working on numerous projects in most parts of the nuclear fuel cycle. His specialism is the optioneering, specification, design, development testing, and on-plant application of remotely operated equipment and robotics for use in radioactive and hazardous environments. Currently Jim is the Technical Lead on the Safer SNM Stores project.
