Biography

Nicholas Smith is an R&D Scientist and Team Leader at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the Safeguards Science and Technology Group. Previously, he worked at the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna where he assisted states on the implementation of safe, secure, and sound disposal of radioactive waste and to facilitated the understanding of safeguards obligations on waste materials. He previously worked at Argonne National Laboratory where he focused on technology for domestic and international safeguards. He holds a Ph.D in radiochemisty from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a B.S. in Chemistry from Lake Superior State University.
