Biography

Assoc. Prof. Banu Bulut Acar is a Professor of Nuclear Engineering at Hacettepe University. She holds a PhD in Nuclear Engineering. Previous to her appointment at Hacettepe University 7 years ago, she worked as a nuclear safety officer for more than 10 years at the Turkish Atomic Energy Authority and specialized in radioactive waste and spent fuel management. Her current research and publications focus on the nuclear fuel cycle, spent fuel and nuclear material management, developing advanced spent fuel reprocessing methods, recycling nuclear materials back into the fuel cycle, non-proliferation, and geological disposal of spent fuel.
