Biography

My work at Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) deals with the understanding of new cement mixtures and their use in nuclear waste encapsulation using thermodynamic software. Requiring rigorous understanding of concretes, their phase evolution, hydration/curing trends, and how this can be used to understand critical properties of the waste forms produced through long term aging. This was done through the comparations of standard characterization cement data (X-Ray and SEM), isothermal calorimetry data, and their similarities to CemGems models. This project will be expanded to include NMR of the original mixture components and mixtures compared to CemGems models.
