Biography

Barbara Pastina has over 25 years of diverse experience in nuclear sciences, including the long-term safety assessment of high- and intermediate-level waste disposal facilities, science policy as well as applied radiation chemistry research. In 2014, she joined Posiva Oy to lead the post-closure safety case supporting the operating license application for the Finnish spent nuclear fuel disposal facility and to serve as a technical expert in geological repository programs around the world. Before moving to Finland, she worked for the National Academies of Sciences supporting the U.S. Department of Energy on topics related to nuclear safety and radioactive waste management.
