Biography

Dr. Krahn is Professor of the Practice of Nuclear Environmental Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Vanderbilt University, where he teaches nuclear and high-hazard facility engineering, performs research and consults to industry. Prior to coming to Vanderbilt, he served in the US Department of Energy as the Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for Safety, Security & Quality—where he was the senior executive responsible for approving nuclear safety bases for high-hazard facilities. He is an internationally recognized expert in the nuclear engineering associated with construction and operation of nuclear facilities and has been certified as an Expert Witness in several countries.
