Biography

Jake is the strategic lead for nuclear innovation and research for the UK Environment Agency, one of the UK’s principal nuclear regulatory bodies responsible for regulating the management and disposal of radioactive waste in England. Jointly with the UK Office for Nuclear Regulation, Jake has been developing new regulatory approaches to help support innovation. A key recent focus has been on progressing how novel digital technologies, such as AI, can be regulated in nuclear. Jake’s background is in nuclear inspection and before that consultancy. He’s an accredited Radioactive Waste Compliance Advisor, Chartered Chemist and holds a PhD in environmental radiochemistry.
