Biography

As a statistical geneticist I work on the biological foundations of aqueous humor dynamics, glaucoma, AMD, and ocular diseases. Trained in anthropology, I transitioned from Mesoamerican archaeology and ancient DNA studies to anthropological genetics and statistics. In research that I have been involved, we have uncovered a de novo gene conversion event in congenital cataracts, involvement of variants in the regulation of intraocular pressure and glaucoma risk, and mapped a new locus responsible for posterior polymorphous corneal dystrophy.
