Biography

Jim Hansen is a Senior Engineer in Geosyntec's Oak Brook, Illinois office with 14 years of geotechnical consulting experience. Prior to joining Geosyntec, he worked with Shannon & Wilson, Inc. in Seattle, Washington. Mr. Hansen has extensive experience with geotechnical engineering pertaining to the investigation, analysis, and design of infrastructure and development projects. Specifically, he has been responsible for developing geotechnical solutions to static and seismic slope instability, deep and shallow foundation design, compressible soil, temporary and permanent retaining walls, and seismic hazards for numerous buildings, bridges, highways, levees, slopes, and embankments throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Mr. Hansen has led several complex projects, including a 2.4-mile-long light rail extension, a 1.2-km-long, 6.5-meter-high secant pile wall, several shored excavations up to 40 feet deep, and several landslide stabilizations. Mr. Hansen currently works primarily on projects related to the oil and gas sector, solar developments, and brownfield or superfund sites.
