Stacey Washburn, cofounder of addalingua, holds a Master’s Degree in Romance Linguistics with a focus on Second Language Acquisition from the University of Washington and a certificate in Immersion and Dual Language Education from the University of Minnesota. She has worked in the field of dual language bilingual education since 2003 as parent, educator, program designer, administrator, and teacher educator prior to cofounding addalingua. Addalingua is an organization dedicated to inspiring global empathy through dual language education that prioritizes partner language proficiency. As cofounder, she and her team have developed online professional learning courses, teacher tools, and language-specific resources that support their unique approach to programming and instruction. When not buried in development projects, Stacey facilitates in-person workshops, presents at conferences, and writes various blogposts and articles centered on promoting high levels of bilingualism and biliteracy. She is also recognized as contributing to the book, Scaffolding Language Development in Immersion and Dual Language Classrooms (2020) by Diane J. Tedick and Roy Lyster and is currently coauthoring the book, Six Practices that Boost Bilingualism and Biliteracy, the addalingua approach to dual language immersion education.
