Biography

Monique Escobedo, Ph.D. is PIQE’s Director of Research. Her work at PIQE centers the intersection of culturally responsive family engagement as a strategy of resistance and transformative academic and professional outcomes for K-12 learners, particularly those from historically minoritized backgrounds. Prior to joining PIQE, Monique taught in K-12 spaces for nearly two decades. She continues instructional work in higher education, along with mentoring pre- and in-service educators completing California teaching credential requirements. In addition to earning a Ph.D. through the SDSU and Claremont Graduate University Joint Doctoral Program, Monique also holds a Master of Arts degree in Latin American Studies from San Diego State University and a Master of Education degree from the University of San Diego.
