Felipe A. Medeiros, M.D., Ph.D. is Professor of Ophthalmology and Vice Chair for Research at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
Dr. Medeiros’ research has span multiple domains, from the development of innovative methods and technologies for early diagnosis and detection of glaucoma progression, identification of biomarkers and risk factors for the disease, to the use of big data and artificial intelligence to improve screening, diagnosis and monitoring of eye diseases. He has published over 400 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 6 books in ophthalmology. His publications have received over 30,000 citations, for an h-index of 89. Dr. Medeiros has given dozens of invited keynote lectures worldwide and has received many honors and awards, including the ARVO Cogan Award, one of the most prestigious awards in vision science. He has served on the editorial boards of several ophthalmology journals and is an elected member of the prestigious Glaucoma Research Society, whose members are restricted to the Top 100 glaucoma researchers in the world. He has trained numerous students, fellows and postdocs from many parts of the world.
