Biography

I am an educator with 24 years of experience serving in a variety of roles, including bilingual and ESL teacher, literacy coach, instructional specialist, assistant principal, and principal. Throughout my career, I have been deeply committed to supporting multilingual learners and creating inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments where all students feel seen, valued, and empowered to succeed. My journey began in the bilingual classroom, where I developed a passion for language, literacy, and student advocacy. That passion led me to become a literacy coach and instructional specialist, where I had the opportunity to support teachers in developing effective instructional practices that meet the needs of diverse learners. As an assistant principal and principal, I worked to build strong, collaborative school cultures centered on equity, academic excellence, and community engagement. Currently, I am pursuing a doctorate degree in Language, Literacy and Culture at Texas Woman’s University. This next step in my educational journey is helping me deepen my understanding of the intersection between language, identity, and educational access. It is also allowing me to strengthen my leadership in ways that better serve linguistically and culturally diverse communities. Over the past two decades, I have remained committed to ensuring that every student—regardless of their language background—has access to a high-quality education. I believe in the power of inclusive leadership, and I strive to be a voice for equity and a champion for all students and educators.
