Biography

I was born in a a small town in Chocó, in the Colombian Pacific, where music runs in the blood and where you breathe beauty, jungle, color, water, breeze, sun. I studied to become a teacher since I was six, so I have been involved in education all my life. In my country, I worked as a teacher in elementary and secondary levels for more than 20 years, and with each life story I learned from my students , I grew stronger in my conception that you cannot teach without passion, this is the profession of the heart. For the last 8 years I have worked as a Spanish teacher at Bancroft ES, in Washington DC, where I have strengthened my knowledge in the integration of content and language in dual environments and I have reassured my concept of the importance of identity and culture. I am a happy woman, mother and teacher who believes in the transformative power of education—because I know that through it, our dreams can become reality. I am reenergized by my connection with students, their families, and their cultures. I am passionate about creating meaningful relationships and fostering inclusive learning environments. I am a disciplined, reflective, and innovative educator who constantly seeks to improve.
