The University of Alabama
Amanda Hudson earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from James Madison University in 2015, her Master of Arts in Experimental Psychology from Appalachian State University in 2018, and her Doctor of Philosophy in Experimental Psychology from Washington State University in 2024. While working towards her PhD, she spent over 5 years at the Sleep and Performance Research Center at Washington State University conducting research on the relationships between sleep and cognition. It was during this time that she also became involved in simulation research, working with both driving and shooting simulators to assess the effects of sleep loss in operational settings. Her background experiences made her right at home at the Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) located at The University of Alabama where she now acts as the Research Program Manager for the Translational Research for Injury Prevention (TRIP) Lab. Her research interests include sleep and circadian rhythms, the effects of sleep deprivation on human performance and cognition, as well as cognition more generally. She is especially interested in vigilant attention, search and detection processes, response inhibition, application within operational settings, and development of fatigue countermeasures.
