Biography

Dr Amanda Berlan is Associate Professor in Responsible Business at the University of Leicester School of Business, UK. My area of expertise is sustainability with a focus on the cocoa/chocolate industry. A Social Anthropologist by training, I have extensive experience of fieldwork with cocoa communities in Ghana, India and the Dominican Republic and been working on issues relating to sustainability since 2000. I have also worked extensively with corporations, NGOs, government and the United Nations in a variety of advisory/research/consultancy roles. I am currently working on various projects relating to child labour, 'decolonising' cocoa and on waste in the cocoa supply chain.
