Biography

Philip D. Heermann, Senior Manager at Sandia National Laboratories, directs the High Consequence Automation and Robotics (HCAR) Group. The HCAR Group is a unique Department of Energy national resource supporting the research, development and deployment of high consequence automation and robotics, addressing national security needs. The Group advances technology such as specialized robot mobility, automated explosives and radioactive material handling, unmanned aerial systems use and defense, advanced ground robotics, and autonomy. Dr. Heermann received his degrees in Mechanical Engineering, with an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.S. from Colorado State
