Biography

Dr. Joshua Mehling is the Technical Discipline Lead for Robotic Controls at NASA's Johnson Space Center where he has served in the Robotic Systems Technology Branch since 2004. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University. While at NASA, Dr. Mehling has held key leadership roles on the design teams responsible for both the Robonaut 2 and Valkyrie humanoid robots, and his experience spans a variety of robotics domains (humanoids, rovers, human-robot collaboration, wearable robotics, remote telepresence, etc.) having deployed systems for both terrestrial and space applications.
