Biography

Carl Hanson has spent his entire professional career at the Hanford site. He began as an engineer at Hanford’s N-Reactor in the late ‘70’s after graduating from the University of Idaho, with a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering. As N-Reactor’s mission subsided, Carl transitioned to working on tank safety issues. His most challenging years were spent as the engineering manager on the SY-101 Hydrogen Mitigation Project, where that team successfully solved Hanford’s “Burping Tank” safety concern. Since then Carl has been Engineering manager on multiple tank retrievals, including Double-Shell Tank AY-102, and now the next four tanks to be retrieved in AX Farm.
