Dr. Thomas Hartmann was hired to the University of Nevada – Las Vegas in 2004, and since 2013, he holds a position as Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Hartmann is the acting director of the UNLV Radiochemistry Program and a joint appointee with the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). His expertise is on vitreous & ceramic waste forms and on advance nuclear fuels. In 1995, he received his Ph.D. from the University Heidelberg, Germany. For his thesis, he investigated the ternary Pd-Rh-Te metal system in the vitrification process of radioactive high-level liquid waste concentrates.
