Biography

Dr. Kamel Saidi is a Mechanical Engineer at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). His research includes development of metrics, test methods and ground-truth systems for evaluating performance of robot perception, safety, dexterity, mapping and autonomy for industrial and emergency response robots. He also works on tests, metrics, and test facilities for 3D Imaging Systems. Dr. Saidi conducted research in construction automation for 10 years prior to shifting to industrial and emergency response robotics. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering as well as Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
