Biography

Karen Edson is a Public Affairs Specialist for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Environmental Management (EM). Ms. Edson leads external communications for the largest environmental cleanup program in the world, supporting EM's mission for the protection of human health and the environment. Her work includes engagement with federal, Tribal, state and local and international governments, the IAEA, and community groups, and the development and distribution of internal and external communication materials. Prior to EM, Ms. Edson's federal environmental communications roles included: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Marine Fisheries Service, DOE Office of Legacy Management (LM), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Peace Corps Nicaragua.
