Biography

Dr. Van Luik worked for almost twenty years overseeing safety assessments and coordinating international cooperative work for the Yucca Mountain Project. After that project closed, he joined the federal staff at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in 2010. His work currently involves contributing to the scientific basis for the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant repository, coordinating international cooperative work for the Carlsbad Field Office and its supporting organizations, and contributing to two technical working groups under the Nuclear Energy Agency, one addressing issues in creating long-term safety cases for radioactive waste repositories, the other on long-term preservation of knowledge
