Biography

Yashar Pourrahimian is currently an Associate Professor of Mining Engineering at University of Alberta. He holds a Ph.D. from University of Alberta. He holds a BSc in Mining Engineering from Sahand University of Technology, Iran. He received his M.Sc. degree in Mining Engineering from University of Tehran, Iran. He has 15 years of research, teaching, and consulting experience. He worked as an academic member in Faculty of Mining Engineering at Sahand university of Technology. He joined Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and School of Mining and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada in 2013. He has extensive experience in mine planning and optimization. He is director of Mining and Rock Science Development and Innovation Laboratory and also a member of Mining Optimization Laboratory (MOL) at University of Alberta.
