REED YOUNG, Ph.D. is Senior Professional Staff at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory where he serves as the Program Manager (PM) for Robotics and Autonomy including research projects in robotics, autonomy, the testing of autonomy, and human-machine interaction. Dr. Young recently retired as a Colonel from the US Army serving in a variety of research and acquisition assignments including Product Manager for Robotic and Unmanned Systems; Program Manager for Actuation, Dynamics, and Mechanisms at the US Army Research Office; and Commander of the US Army Yuma Proving Ground with extensive experience and expertise in the research, development, test, and evaluation of military systems.
