Dr. Wangkyu Choi is a project manager for the development of advanced decontamination technology for nuclear facilities working at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI). He obtained his MS in chemical engineering in 1986 and his PhD in 1994, both from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). His research interests are chemical decontamination and radioactive waste treatment. Significant successful technology development projects delivered to date include a chemical decontamination technology for a retired uranium conversion plant decommissioning and the waste volume reduction technologies via melting of metallic wastes and thermal and mechanical separation of concrete wastes generated by dismantling nuclear research facilities such as retired research reactors
