Biography

Alexandra Mahabir is a senior-level manager with more than three decades of experience in communications, outreach and stakeholder engagement in the private and public sectors. In her current position as Manager of Communications for Canadian Nuclear Laboratories’ Historic Waste Program, Alex oversees a team that provides extensive communications support to low-level radioactive waste management programs, including the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI), currently one of Canada’s largest environmental remediation projects. Communications efforts for the PHAI include outreach with stakeholders at all levels of government, regulatory bodies, and approximately 5,000 individual property owners.
