Office for Nuclear Regulation
Matt has a Masters in Natural Sciences and a PhD in Physics from the University of Cambridge, UK. He worked in the areas of reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, severe accident analysis and some novel reactor-orientated problem solving tasks (e.g. some technical root cause/statistical analysis of reactor performance difficulties). He subsequently moved into safety case writing and independent nuclear assessment and, in 2013, joined the Office for Nuclear Regulation as an Inspector specialising in Fault Analysis. Since 2015 he has been the ONR Project Inspector for the Sellafield Pile Fuel Cladding Silo, focusing on the regulatory oversight and permissioning of hazard and risk reduction at this facility.
