Biography of Zhian Li Dr. Zhian Li is a senior Criticality and Shielding Engineer in the Division of Spent Fuel Management, formerly known as Division of Spent Storage and Transportation, of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. His main responsibilities include review and approval of shielding and criticality designs of spent nuclear fuel storage and transportation and other Type B radioactive materials transportation packages. Prior to joining NRC, he worked at Argonne National Laboratory as a scientist in areas of radioactive material transportation package design review and certification for the Department of Energy and other research areas focusing on simulation and modeling of environmental and defense related research programs. Dr. Li received his doctor’s degree in nuclear engineer from The Pennsylvania State University. He received his master’s degree in nuclear engineering from Institute of Atomic Energy in Beijing, China and his bachelor’s degree in engineering physics from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.
