Biography

Tom Hansen is the Executive Director of the Southeast Compact Commission. He is a certified health physicist and registered radiation protection technologist with more than 30 years of nuclear field experience. He possesses a bachelor’s degree in radiation protection, a master’s degree in health physics, and PhD in public health education. Dr. Hansen has planned and managed more than 60 decommissioning projects, shipped more than 100 million pounds of radioactive waste for a diverse set of customers, and authored or coauthored more than 80 papers and reports serving the field of radiation protection.
