Biography

Helen Leung received her Ph.D. in chemical engineering from University of Toronto in 1987. After graduation, she joined Ontario Power Generation and in 2009 transferred to the Nuclear Waste Management Organization. Currently, she is the Section Manager, Preclosure Safety for NWMO’s used fuel disposal program. She has over twenty-five years of experience in the safety assessment of radioactive waste management. In particular, she managed the preclosure and postclosure safety assessment activities to support Environmental Assessment and construction licence application for Ontario Power Generation’s L&ILW Deep Geologic Repository.
