Biography

Tristan Simoes-Ponce was a Mechanical Engineering graduate student at Florida International University. Tristan joined the Department of Energy (DOE) Fellowship at the Applied Research Center in Fall 2017 and conducted research for the Intumescent fixative component for Deactivating and Decommissioning efforts. He graduated with his Bachelors and Masters in 2020. His research at the Applied Research Center was the basis for his thesis. The DOE fellowship allowed Tristan to participate in two internships at Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL). Tristan accepted a full time position at SRNL as a Research & Development (R&D) mechanical engineer at SRNL. Tristan's interests include mechanical design, heat transfer, fire protection,
