Biography

David S. Shafer, PHD is the Technical Director for Long Term Stewardship for the DOE Office of Legacy Management (DOE LM). He is responsible for identifying, developing, and helping implement new strategies for more effective long term stewardship of the more than 100 DOE LM sites; and addressing emerging technical issues such as the potential impacts of climate change on environmental remedies at LM sites. He is also responsible for coordinating LM's international activities such as with the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Nuclear Energy Agency.
