Biography

Dr. Hudson has extensive experience in performing geotechnical services for a wide variety of private and public developments. Private projects include hospital, schools and universities, high-rise buildings, retail, high-density residential, industrial, manufacturing, and mixed-use developments. Public projects include hospitals, public office buildings, schools and universities, hospitals, dams, reservoirs, subways, and pipelines. As project manager for large geotechnical investigations, Dr. Hudson has overseen investigations for the master planning and replacement of some of the largest hospital building projects in California history and major new retail/hotel developments of up to $1.1 Billion. Dr. Hudson has specialized in foundation evaluations, excavations including deep excavations with shoring, geotechnical earthquake engineering including evaluation of ground motions, liquefaction, and seismic slope stability. He has evaluated the seismic response of many sites using one-, two-, and three-dimensional finite difference and finite element computer programs, including QUAD4M, which he co-wrote and developed during his Ph.D. studies with Professor I. M. Idriss of the University of California, Davis. He has conducted ground motion studies of hundreds of sites in California.  

Dr. Hudson is an Honorary Member of the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC), has served as chairman of the Ground Motions subcommittee of the Seismology Committee of SEAOSC, the chairman of the Ground Motions subcommittee of SEAOC, and as a voting member of the Seismology Committee of SEAOC. He served as a board member of the SEAOC, and past-president of the American Society of Civil Engineers Los Angeles Section Geotechnical Engineering Group.
