Suzanne Toohey taught English Learners for seventeen years. Her interest in second language acquisition began while serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Central America. Through Northern Arizona University, she earned a Master’s degree in Bilingual/Multicultural Education. Suzanne is a former Member at Large on the Board of the National Association of English Language Program Administrators, is a Past-President of MITESOL, and is a member of the Michigan Department of Education English Learner Advisory Council. She currently serves as the Scholarship Co-Chair on the Board of the non-profit organization Full Basket Belize, making education more accessible to all. Presently, she is Supervisor of the Instruction and Pedagogy Unit at Oakland Schools.
