Biography

Mark Zais, PhD is a Senior Technologist at Integration Innovation Inc. (i3). He joined i3 in 2023 and leads the Data and Analytics practice to support i3 portfolios and business units. Prior to joining i3, Mark served in the military for 26 years before retiring as an Army Colonel. He spent the first part of his career in multiple assignments as a Longbow Apache (AH-64D) helicopter pilot before transitioning to the Operations Research military specialty. Mark’s military Operations Research assignments included Department of the Army Staff, Office of the Secretary of Defense, and U.S. Special Operations Command, where he served his final military role as Chief Data Scientist. His academic and professional research focuses on data science, machine learning, metaheuristics, and simulation-optimization. Mark has a degree in Operations Research from the United States Military Academy (West Point), master’s degrees in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Operations Research) from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
