Biography

Cristina Manzanares is an educator with a background in environmental sciences from the University of Alcalá de Henares, where she earned a bachelor's and master's degree, along with a postgraduate certification in Middle and High School Science Education. After teaching mathematics and science at the middle and high school levels in Madrid, she moved to the United States, where she joined the Spanish Immersion Program at Westdale Middle School in Louisiana. There, she launched the first Spanish-language agroscience program at a middle school in the region. Currently, she collaborates in the Magnet Immersion Program, where the school received the Distinction Award in 2023 and was named a Top Magnet School of Excellence in 2024. Additionally, the school earned the Excellence Award in 2025. She was honored as National Teacher of the Year by Magnet Schools of America for the 2023-2024 school year and served as the Host Committee Chair for NABE 2024.
