Biography

Idalina Orta is a veteran educator with over 28 years of experience in the teaching profession. Mrs. Orta has worked in various urban school districts as a classroom teacher, School Safety Team Coordinator, Head Start Educational Specialist, and an Early Reading First Mentor for the Pre-K-2 Department, of Broward County Public Schools, which is the 6th largest school district in the Nation. In her current position, as Dual Language Educational Specialist I for the Bilingual ESOL Department. Mrs. Orta is directly responsible for providing curriculum support and professional development for Dual Language teachers. Mrs. Orta earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Primary Education with a Minor in Spanish from Florida Memorial University and an ESOL Endorsement. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology from Barry University and has served as an adjunct professor for Florida Memorial University, Miami-Dade College, Miami Senior High School, and various community schools where she taught adult ESOL courses and introduction to computers.
