Dr. Lhisa Almashy Gonzalez Nuñez is a bilingual, bi-cultural, 28-year veteran educator in the Palm Beach County School District, currently working to help open a new high school after directing Palm Beach County’s equity department and strategic initiative on equity, access, and cultural competency. Education is her passion as she is dedicated to empowering people, especially though her developed framework, Open Hand Leadership and Learning in Action. Her areas of expertise include teaching English Learners, social studies, professional development, onboarding new teachers, and team building. Lhisa has a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and History as well as a Master of Arts degree in TESOL from the University of San Francisco. She earned her doctorate in Leadership and Learning in Organizations from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University in 2020. Lhisa consults with and presents at various local, state and national conferences, school districts and organizations, garnering acclaim for her innovative and transformative pedagogy and practices. She is currently a member of the Learning for Justice Ambassador Collective, a mentor for The National Urban Alliance, and is co-creating an ad hoc Equity Advisory Board for New Schools. She continues to grow her work and welcomes opportunities to connect with people and organizations to help realize the collective power of one. Lhisa feels it is an honor and a privilege to be a keynote speaker, moderator, and facilitator to share her passion, pedagogy, and some of her high energy techniques through interactive training environments where dialogue is the gateway to understanding.
