Biography

Dr. Juana Bordas is recognized as an elder and icon in the world of leadership. In 2019 she was the first Latina to receive the prestigious International Leadership Lifetime Achievement Award. She joins renowned thought leaders as Peter Drucker, Warren Bennis, Robert Greenleaf, and Margaret Wheatly. She has almost 50 years of experience as a leader, teacher, mentor, and author. She is a founder of Colorado’s Mi Casa Resource Center which is a recognized national model for women’s empowerment and the first President/CEO of the National Hispana Leadership Institute, the only program in the US which prepared Latinas for national positions. For her extensive work with Latinas, she was commended by Latina Style Magazine for creating “a Nation of Latina Leaders.” The first Latina faculty member at The Center for Creative Leadership – the most utilized corporate training program in the world – she served as a Trustee of The International Leadership Association, vice-president of the Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership, and an Advisor to Harvard’s Hispanic Journal on Public Policy. She is founding president of Lideramos – the National Latino Leadership Alliance and shaped the early foundation of the organization. Her books Salsa, Soul, and Spirit: Leadership for a Multicultural Age and The Power of Latino Leadership are considered seminal work in the leadership field and were awarded The International Latino Book Awards for best leadership books. In 2015 she contributed to the new edition of Peter Drucker’s, Five Questions Most Important Questions: Enduring Wisdom for Today’s Leaders.
