Biography

Marilyn Davis is an AACTE Holmes Scholar and a doctoral candidate in Teacher Education and Teacher Development in the College of Education at Montclair State University, New Jersey, with a specialization in research methods and pre-service and in-service teacher professional development. Her dissertation research investigates future and current educators' beliefs and conceptualizations of language, worldview, and culture. Marilyn currently serves as the director of the Montclair State University Center for Education, Innovation, and Strategic Partnerships and the renowned Network for Educational Renewal. Her previous work includes researcher in the University of New Mexico Center for Educational Policy Research (2015-2018), Associate Director of the University of New Mexico Research Service Learning Program (2007-2009), Director of the New Jersey Consortium for Urban Education and Teaching Academy at Montclair State University (2004-2007), and former Director of the Albuquerque Public Schools, UNM College of Education Professional Development Partnership (1988-2004). She is recognized at the national level as an experienced boundary spanner and Administrator responsible for developing multi-million dollar stake-holder funded opportunities for teacher preparation in school/university/community partnerships. Internationally, Ms. Davis consulted in Equatorial Guinea, West Africa, on the development of after-school programming for schools in collaboration with the State Department and oil refineries. By invitation, she lived in the United Arab Emirates for four years, where she taught at Zayed University in the College of Education, and introduced undergraduate research methods, service learning as a capstone experience in the Children Youth & Families program, and prepared her students for Women as Global Leaders.
