Biography

Lulu has a BA in Anthropology and Latin American Literature from New York University and an MEd. in Bilingual, ESL, and Multicultural Education from the University of Massachusetts. Before becoming a teacher she worked in health and wellness as an outside provider of mindfulness education in urban public schools for over ten years. Now in her 6th year of teaching at the Middle School level, Lulu has supported the development of Positive Behavior Incentive Systems, Advisory programming, student leadership through a Middle School Equity Coalition, and an after-school gender and sexuality alliance called Arts and Identity Club for her school. Her interests include culturally advancing pedagogy, salud y bienestar, multilingual education, equity, accessibility, and inclusive leadership. Lulu is developing a Heritage Language and Arts program as an enrichment opportunity for middle school students in her urban inner-city school district.
