Biography

I was born and raised in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, México, and went to school there until 12th grade. I pursued my bachelor's degree at the University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA, now UTRGV) in Graphic Design. My desire to be part of the education field started after becoming a mom, and then I decided to become a teacher, a bilingual teacher, of course! My interests changed entirely, and I wanted to learn and help children learn academics and life skills to help them succeed in the future. Those interests and desire to learn and understand more about the Dual Language field, more specifically, sent me back to school for my master's, which I decided to take in Bilingual Education with a specialization in Dual Language. However, I did not stop there and decided to pursue my Principalship right after and now my Doctoral in Curriculum and Instruction with a Specialization in Bilingual Studies. I have been a Dual Language Kindergarten teacher, first-grade teacher, Second Language Acquisition teacher, and now a Dual Language Instructional Coach. Learning is a passion, collaborating is a passion, and bilingual education is my passion! I want to continue advocating for our bilingual students and always find the best tools and strategies to help them develop in both languages. At the same time, also have them learn and respect each other's culture and differences.
